Help your customers send money and call home with affordable remittances and Talk 360

May 17, 2017 7:45 am by Bronwyn Watt

The Stats SA’s Community Survey conducted in 2016 shows that there are approximately 1.6 million foreign nationals living in South Africa. The 2011 national census says that 75% of the international migrants in South Africa come from the African continent. For these immigrants, keeping in touch with loved ones back home can be difficult because of high international calling rates. Sending money home is equally challenging – South Africa is the most expensive country from which to send remittances. But you can make your customers’ lives easier by offering them affordable remittances and international calls through Kazang. Here’s all you need to know.

Mukuru makes remittances simple and affordable

Mukuru is a safe, easy and cost-effective way of sending money across borders. Neither the sender nor the recipient of the money needs to have a bank account, and they can register quickly online or over the phone. With Mukuru, customers can send money to six neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Malawi, Lesotho and Mozambique. Wallet top-ups and money transfers can be made securely at any Kazang merchant, and both the sender and the recipient will receive periodic SMS updates until the money arrives at its destination. Mukuru is perfect for people who want to send home money quickly and securely.

Keep in touch with loved ones abroad for less with Talk 360

Despite how much smaller the world has become, international calling is generally expensive. Enter Talk 360, a mobile app that uses VoIP to provide international calls that cost a fraction of standard roaming rates. The app is free to download on iOS and Android app stores, and easy to use – it takes fewer than 20 seconds to set up an account and making a call is as simple as loading a voucher (purchased from a Kazang merchant), and dialling. It works for any mobile or landline number in the world. First-time users get to enjoy five minutes talk time for free when they sign-up and enter the promo code KAZANG. Users also get a friendcode that they can share with the recipients and they get additional discounts every time their friendcode is used. What’s even better? Top-up vouchers are valid for up to 12 months from the date of purchase.

These services – and many more – are available through Kazang

With a Kazang terminal, you get to offer both of these services (Talk 360 and Mukuru) , and even more. You can sell prepaid airtime and mobile data, prepaid electricity, and gambling services like the Lotto and Hollywood Bets. Kazang can even process payments for services such as DStv and Eskom. For those with loved ones abroad, there’s international airtime transfer. Customers can top up their loved ones airtime by simply giving their Kazang merchant the recipient’s mobile number (including the international dialling code) and paying for the amount they want to transfer – and the transaction is processed in real time.
